Engineering Sector Council Conference, Oct. 2009
Report on the Workshop on the Future of Engineering Education in Egypt Oct. 26th, 2009 Represented by Dr. Mohamed Attalla, President of AEAS
The Engineering Sector Council has been working with all Engineering Schools in Egyptian Universities on the development and the enhancement of Engineering Education in Egypt. Many subcommittees have been established to investigate and examine certain aspects of Engineering Education. Some examples of these aspects include the development of the Fourth year in Engineering Education, the Evaluation of the different initiatives of new programs in engineering schools, the implementation of the credit hours system, Comparable studies between Engineering Education Systems in Egypt, Europe and North America, Engineering Education Accreditation, the roadmap for Engineering, Technological and technical Education, in addition to many other issues.
With the support of Dr. Hany Helal, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Salwa El Ghareeb, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Universities, members of the Association of Egyptian American Scholars (AEAS) worked with Dr. Mohamed Sheira, Chair of the Engineering Sector Committee and Dr. Mohamed Megahed , Coordinator of the Engineering Sector Committee to establish sustainable mechanisms for collaboration between the Engineering Sector Council and the engineering members of the AEAS and to allow AEAS members to contribute the development efforts that are being coordinated by Dr. Sheira and Dr. Megahed.
On Oct., 26th, 2009, the Engineering Sector Council has organized a conference to present the results of the current stage of the discussions. Dr. Mohamed Attalla, AEAS president was invited to present the developed mechanisms for collaboration with the engineering sector council as suggested by the AEAS members.
